May the Lord make you increase
and abound in love
for one another and for all.
(1 Thessalonians 3:12)
Mighty Redeemer, You abound in love and are able to do all things. Daily enlarge my heart, that I may grow in love for all people. And that the world may overflow with evidence of Your grace, work this same increase in all Your disciples, for I ask this in Your name. Amen.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation.
The old has passed away;
behold, the new has come.
(2 Corinthians 5:17)
Lord Jesus, by Your death and resurrection You have freed me from slavery to my past. When memories of old sins or hurts invade my heart, hold Your cross before me. Point me to Your emptied tomb that I may bury all grudges and resentments to live in the peace and joy that You make new every day. Amen.
For what will it profit a man
if he gains the whole world
and forfeits his soul?
(Matthew 16:26a)
To know You, loving Savior, is eternal life. Apart from You there is no salvation. Guard me against all greed, for the world and its wealth will pass away when You come again from heaven, while the soul that clings in faith to You will receive treasures beyond all measure. Amen.
For not in my bow do I trust,
nor can my sword save me
(Psalm 44:6)
Since You alone can save me from sin and death, Lord Jesus, protect me against every idolatrous impulse to place my trust in any power or resource of human ingenuity. Money cannot purchase heaven; armies cannot open its gates; but You have promised places there to all who believe in Your name. Daily fortify my faith in You. Amen.
And the LORD regretted that he had made Saul king over Israel.
(1 Samuel 15:35b)
Spare me, most gracious God, from so misusing any blessing that I cause You to regret having bestowed it on me. Grant me the wisdom to receive Your gifts with thanksgiving and use them rightly in Your praise and my neighbors’ service. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
“Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.
(John 7:24)
Almighty God, You know all things and see what is hidden. So that I make no hasty or hurtful judgments, help me look beyond appearances. Attractive surfaces may hide flaws and plain covers may conceal treasures. Teach me in Christ Jesus to look more deeply and love more completely. Amen.
Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the LORD,
and to do it and to teach His statutes and rules in Israel.
(Ezra 7:10)
Your Word alone reveals saving truth, O Lord. The Bible tells me that Your Son, Jesus, died and rose for me, that He lives and reigns in heaven, and that He will come again to take to Paradise all who believe in Him. Set my heart on Your Word, and make living according to it and gladly sharing it with others my chief delight. Amen.
