The Epiphany of our Lord (January 6th) is a festival that emphasizes Jesus’ manifestation (or epiphany, from the Greek epiphaneia) as God and man. In Matthew 2:1-2 we hear of when the Magi (Wise Men) came to worship Jesus. These Wise Men were Gentiles (a word to describe people not of Jewish heritage) whom God led to Jesus by a brilliant star to reveal that His saving plan is indeed for Gentiles as well as Jews. This shows us that everyone now has access to God. Now all people, of every nation, can come to God’s temple to worship, because Jesus is the new temple: God in the flesh.
