The Faith Lutheran Church (FLC) columbarium was dedicated on January 19, 2025.  Niches are now available for purchase and inurnments of remains can be scheduled through the church office.

The church council has adopted the following policies and procedures around the columbarium.

Policy:

  1. Only human remains can be inurned in the columbarium.
  2. No valuables such as medals, trinkets, or jewelry are permitted in the niche.
  3. The use of felt, crushed silk, satin, or velvet or any other fabrics in the niche is prohibited.
  4. A maximum of two urns will be permitted in each niche.
  5. Urns are provided by FLC and are made of bronze.
  6. Eligible persons to be inurned at Faith Lutheran Church include:
    • A member of FLC and/or their spouse, regardless if spouse is a member.
    • Parents or children of a member, including natural, adopted, fostered or step of the member
    • Pastors who have served at FLC
    • Requests for inurnment of a non-eligible person may be honored in the event such persons are recommended to and approved by the Pastoral Staff.
  7. Niches will be reserved upon signing of the contract, full payment of the niche fee and issuance of a Certificate of Right of Inurnment by the church.
  8. The one-time fee for the Right of Inurnment shall be as stated in the current Application for Certificate of Right of Inurnment. This may be periodically adjusted by the FLC Council. The fee includes:
    • Rights to one niche
    • Urns (maximum of 2) provided by FLC. The urns will be provided to the by FLC to the family or funeral home for use by the crematory and the cap should be permanently attached once cremains are enclosed at the crematory. The name of the deceased shall be affixed permanently to the urn. If another urn is desired to be used, it must sealed, and of a material and size approved by the columbarium committee that fits our niche.
    • Engraving of up to two names, dates of birth and dates of death on the niche cover.
    • Maintenance of the niche
    • Opening and closing of the niche cover at inurnment.
  9. No flowers or plants may be placed in the columbarium at any time other than during inurnment services and the following three days.
  10. No boxes, cans, shells, toys, wreaths, metal, signs, cards, vases, photos, flags or any other such article shall be permitted in the columbarium area unless sponsored by the congregation and approved by the committee.
  11. The holder of the Right of Inurnment is responsible for updating the church office of any changes to their contract information.
  12. Cremains remain the property of the family or estate of the deceased. If the family wishes to remove inurned cremains from their assigned niche, rights to the niche will revert to FLC without compensation.
  13. The reservation of a niche and the full payment of its fee gives the individual the right to be inurned but does not convey ownership of property by the individual. FLC provides ONLY the niche, urns, engraving of niche cover, and is not responsible for any other cost or cremation expense of whatever nature. No transfer or reservation of a Columbarium niche may be made to another person, estate, or corporation by the contract holder. However, FLC may repurchase a niche from the contract holder for the original price less any cost incurred in the replacement of the niche cover. However, NO repurchase, or refund can be performed once remains have been inurned.
  14. The Rite of Inurnment for all inurned within FLC’s Columbarium will be according to the Christian form of worship as prescribed by FLC and always conducted by the authority and supervision of the pastoral office of FLC.
  15. If a niche remains unused more than ten (10) years following the death of the individual to whom the contract was issued the niche will revert to FLC without compensation or refund. Prior to this event the committee will make good faith efforts to communicate with the executor or next of kin on the contract.
  16. If twenty-five (25) years have elapsed since the Right of Inurnment was issued and the contract holder or next of kin cannot be located the Right will be deemed void and the assigned niche will revert to FLC with no compensation to the holder or the holder’s estate.

Pricing:

The current price per niche is $2,000.  This price remains the same regardless if one or two persons are inurned within.
